One To One Or Group Mentoring

Prices start at £25 per session with a 20% discount when booking 6 or more sessions. One session usually lasts between 1 -2 hours. Mentoring is available worldwide and can be done either online (via video lessons), over the phone, in person (if based in the UK), or a mixture of all three ways. The methods used will be mutually decided upon after an initial consultation (free). In person sessions are usually carried out at locations to both suit the customer’s travel preferences and to best practice the principles discussed during the sessions. In person sessions carry a modest travel fee calculated on distance and are often mixed with online sessions to minimise cost. To discuss mentoring with me in more detail, please contact me using either the contact box or directly on my email at admin@richardbyersphotography.com. There are no fees for enquiries.

Talks and Lectures

I am available for group talks around the UK and can cover a variety of specialist photographic topics with particular emphasis on manual and long exposure photography. Prices are depedent on group size, venue and travel cost. Please contact me using either the contact box or directly on my email at admin@richardbyersphotography.com to discuss this more.

Why Roots Photography Tutoring?

Roots Photography came about through a personal need I felt to address a gap in the photographic world, that is, a no nonsense and down to earth tutoring service that took the snobbery and 'artistic' elitism out of what should primarily be a subjective and open ended form of art. After over 15 years of selling and exhibiting my own work I have seen a lot of changes in photography, not least the social media boom in the mid to late 2000's. This has brought about a new generation of photographers, and with it new forms of photographic thinking.
Although primarily aimed at the beginner to intermediate level, part of the foundations of Roots Photography Tutoring is taking apart the notion of 'levels' of skill and repackaging them in the form of a journey. This journey is one every artist will be on for their entire lives, and it is a journey of, above all, learning. Therefore I would like to think that there is something for everyone in Roots Photography, even if it is just a new perspective or dose of inspiration.
